Guide to Fanatec’s CSL Cockpit Seat and Seat Sliders

Last updated:

One way to achieve a highly immersive sim racing experience is by setting up your own cockpit. Compared to a desk setup, the cockpit offers streamlined ergonomics and a sturdy, stable base for all your equipment. Here, your seat plays a vital role in ensuring you will always be in full control, especially when driving with load cell pedals, which can require a lot of force to operate – making a sturdy rig even more important.

CSL Cockpit Seat

The CSL Cockpit Seat is specifically designed for use with the CSL Cockpit V1.5. At just 7 kg, it is an ideal match for the strong and light CSL Cockpit. It is comfortable for long sim racing sessions and provides excellent support in intense and demanding moments on track.

Assembly

All tools you need are included with either your CSL Cockpit or the seat, and installation should not take more than 20 minutes. The seat attaches directly to the cockpit’s mounting brackets. These brackets also allow the seat to slide back and forth. Make sure to find a comfortable driving position before you fasten all bolts. Also make sure to tighten the bolts enough so the seat will not move when applying your brakes while driving. A stable and rigid seat is key for consistency and thus speed.

CSL Cockpit Seat Sliders

The CSL Cockpit Seat Sliders provide a fast and convenient way to adjust your seat position, particularly when the rig is regularly used by different sized drivers. Many third-party seats are also compatible with the seat sliders (check your seat manufacturer’s documentation).

Aside from having multiple drivers in your rig, the sliders can also be very handy when changing steering wheels often. Since wheels can vary in length, it can often be easier to slightly adjust your seat’s position instead of the wheel base to make up for the difference. Be aware though that this should not compromise your legs’ position too much, since an uncomfortable driving posture will be detrimental to your experience.

Assembly

Similar to just the seat, the seat sliders also attach to the cockpit’s mounting brackets. Some slight adjustments must be made compared to the seat’s installation, but the process is very straightforward.
