The Gran Turismo World Series 2026 continues this weekend with Round 2 in Tokyo, bringing the world’s leading Gran Turismo drivers together at the home of the series itself: Polyphony Digital’s Tokyo Studio.
Fanatec is the Official Steering Wheel Partner of the Gran Turismo World Series, with the Gran Turismo® DD Extreme serving as the official steering system used throughout live competition.
Round 2 takes place inside Polyphony Digital’s Tokyo Studio, the company’s main Gran Turismo development facility and home to teams covering engineering, art, design, online events, and more. The studio also features a dedicated event area that acts as a lobby for entertaining guests, with two large screens, event lighting and sound equipment, and 12 racing rigs permanently equipped with Gran Turismo® DD Extreme, the officially licensed, 18 Nm Direct Drive systems from Fanatec.
The event is not open to the public, but fans around the world can follow the action on the official Gran Turismo YouTube channel on Saturday, August 15.
The Manufacturers Cup is contested by 12 automotive manufacturers, with Round 2 featuring drivers mainly from the Asia-Oceania region. Competition begins with a one-lap Qualifying Time Trial at Fuji International Speedway. The fastest six teams progress to Top 6 Qualifying, while the remaining six retain their positions for the Grand Final. The 27-lap Grand Final then takes place at Fuji in Gr.3 machinery, with World Series points awarded to the top six teams.
The Nations Cup features 12 drivers representing their respective countries or territories. The field includes defending champion Jose Serrano, Japanese star Takuma Miyazono, and Round 1 winner Pol Urra, who arrives in Tokyo after defeating Serrano in Milan.
Following qualifying, the Nations Cup drivers face an eight-lap Sprint Race at Suzuka Circuit using a selection of 12 production cars, with the qualifying order determining the order in which drivers select their cars. The Sprint Race results then set the grid for a 35-lap Grand Final at Deep Forest Raceway Reverse. Drivers compete in the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 Competition and must use all three dry racing tire compounds during the race.
