The ClubSport Formula V2.5 was a minor iteration on the Formula V2 - the first major rework of the iconic Fanatec Formula wheel launched in 2012. Unlike the original, which used a metal plate, the V2 used a 5 mm-thick carbon fiber plate to reduce weight while retaining strength. It was one of the first Fanatec wheels to include an OLED display, RGB LEDs, multi-position switches, upgradable paddle modules, and an upgradable quick release – technologies that have spread across much of the Fanatec wheel range.

Several variations on the Formula V2/V2.5 were created as limited edition F1-licensed steering wheels since Fanatec’s partnership with Formula 1 began in 2018.
The ClubSport Formula V3 is a further evolution of the Fanatec Formula wheel rather than a completely new generation of Fanatec design and technology. It addresses some of the most common requests from our community while retaining its familiar character.
So, what actually changed?
The most noticeable difference is its width. The Formula V3 measures 290 mm across, compared with 270 mm for the Formula V2.5.
Those extra 20 mm create more space around the grips and controls, making the V3 more comfortable for a wider range of drivers. The larger diameter also makes it suitable for a broader selection of race cars while retaining the compact proportions expected from a Formula-style wheel.
The Formula V2.5 uses a compact, 1-inch white OLED display alongside nine RGB RevLEDs and six RGB FlagLEDs.
The Formula V3 retains the same number of LEDs but adds a larger 2.7-inch white OLED display. The RevLEDs are positioned higher on the wheel, closer to the driver’s natural line of sight.
The larger, higher-resolution display supports Intelligent Telemetry Mode, with five different data layouts that can be selected manually or switched automatically through supported game integration.
Both wheels offer a large number of inputs, but the layout has evolved for the V3.
The Formula V3 features two 7-way FunkySwitches, replacing the V2.5’s combination of one FunkySwitch and an analogue joystick. Its two thumb rotaries have increased resistance, more clearly defined detents, and an integrated push function.
The V2.5’s central 4-way selector switch (used only for the Advanced Paddle Module) was replaced by a third 12-way rotary switch. The functionality of the 4-way selector is now in the Tuning Menu. Revised spacing across the face of the wheel makes individual controls easier to identify and operate. The V3 also introduces user-replaceable perforated leather grips.
The Formula V3 continues to be equipped with the ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module, providing the same defined magnetic shift action. Both can also be upgraded to the Podium Advanced Paddle Module for additional inputs, including dual analogue paddles.
The wider shape, improved ergonomics, expanded display, and refined switches make the Formula V3 more comfortable and engaging to use. The regular Formula V2.5 is discontinued, but it is still available as an XBOX-licensed variant, and as part of the ClubSport Racing Wheel F1 package.
The ClubSport F1 Racing System, announced before Tokyo Game Show 2026, will replace the ClubSport Racing Wheel F1, using the same Direct Drive Base, and new variant of the Formula V3.
