Guide to Fanatec’s CSL Pedals

Last updated:

When it comes to sim racing, one of the arguably most important components in your setup are the pedals. While a direct drive wheel base gives you important feedback on road details and the car’s behaviour, your pedals will be key in building consistency and improving your lap time. Fanatec’s CSL Pedals offer a great entry at a reasonable price point if you are just starting out, or even as an upgrade if you are coming from entry-level products.

CSL Pedals Features

The standard CSL Pedals set comes with two pedals solidly built from steel (excluding the pedal faces). Both the throttle and brake are equipped with precision Hall-effect sensors, measuring the pedal positions with magnets instead of potentiometers. Since the Hall-effect system is contactless, it means no wear on the sensor and consistent performance.

The pedals are also highly adjustable to best fit your needs and driving comfort – with pedal plate height and pedal spacing as two of the most important customisation options available.

Upgradeability

The CSL Pedals can easily be upgraded from a two-pedal set to a three-pedal set. The CSL Pedals Clutch Kit adds a clutch to your existing setup. The CSL Pedals Load Cell Kit replaces your old brake pedal, which can then be used as a clutch. If you want to know more, be sure to check our dedicated guide.

Further, you can upgrade the look and feel of your pedals with the CSL Pedals Tuning Kit. These anodised aluminium pedal plates compliment the all-metal design of this pedal set perfectly and feature an extended throttle pedal face, allowing for a comfortable heel-and-toe technique.

Compatibility

The CSL Pedals are compatible and plug-and-play with all current Fanatec wheel bases and all older CSL Elite and ClubSport wheel bases. They are fully compatible with PC, as well as Xbox One / Xbox Series X|S consoles (when used with a compatible steering wheel) and PlayStation®4/5 consoles (when used with a compatible wheel base).

The pedals can also be used standalone on PC via USB when combined with the ClubSport USB Adapter or the CSL Pedals Load Cell Kit.

Setup

Assembly:

  • CSL Pedals must be assembled before use. The assembly is straightforward and easy and can be done within just a few minutes. During assembly, you might also already try out some different pedal configurations to see which works best for you.
  • After assembling the pedals, you can either hard-mount them directly to your cockpit like the CSL Cockpit or ClubSport GT Cockpit, or use them on the floor – for example under your desk.

Updates:

  • Before using your CSL Pedals, we recommend updating your wheel base firmware for maximum compatibility. Download the latest driver or the Fanatec App from Fanatec.com and simply run the firmware updater when new firmware is available.

Calibration:

  • Once connected to the wheel base, CSL Pedals will automatically calibrate the minimum and maximum pedal values when pressing the pedals.
  • Manual calibration of each individual pedal is possible when using a CSL Pedals Load Cell Kit.
