Guide to Fanatec’s Podium Button Module Rally

Last updated:

Depending on which racing discipline you chose, having dedicated inputs directly on your steering wheel can not only be very handy, but also crucial for your performance and success on track. All Fanatec steering wheels offer a multitude of inputs ranging from simple buttons to D-pads, FunkySwitches™, Encoders, and more.

If you are planning to build and customize your own wheel, the Podium Button Module Rally is a perfect addition. Designed in collaboration with the M-Sport World Rally Team, the Podium Button Module Rally is a feature-packed device used in the 2022 and 2023 Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 WRC car.

Which Racing Disciplines fit the Podium Button Module Rally?

With nine RGB LED-backlit buttons (color-adjustable and dimmable), two D-pads, and three 12-way multi-position switches, this button module is not only useful for Rally driving, but basically any racing style – including GT and even Formula racing. When paired with shifter paddles like the ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module or Podium Advanced Paddle Module, the Podium Button Module Rally becomes even more versatile.

Compatibilty

In general, the Podium Button Module Rally is compatible with all non-dished steering wheels that have a 6 x 70 mm hole pattern – that includes third-party offerings as well. Just make sure that the rim is big enough to properly fit the button module and that there will be enough clearance between the button module and the wheel rim. If it is too narrow, driving could feel uncomfortable, or you might even run the risk of getting your fingers stuck between module and rim.

Once your steering wheel is set up, make sure your driver and firmware are up-to-date:

Download and install the latest drivers and/or software directly from the Fanatec website or via the Fanatec App (Windows PC required). This includes the Fanatec Control Panel, which allows you to customize your settings. You can also adjust your wheel base settings like force feedback, steering wheel sensitivity, damper, friction, and more directly via the Tuning Menu on your steering wheel.

If you want to adjust the color and brightness of the backlit buttons, make sure to have the latest version of Fanalab installed on your PC.
