More Fanatec Direct Drive for Less

Direct Drive Bases have become the go-to technology in sim racing. Compared to older standards like gear or belt-driven bases, direct drive offers substantial advantages in almost every respect. Finer and more pronounced details, higher slew rates, and improved reliability are just a few examples.

In the past, due to high cost and limited availability, these systems were usually only used by enthusiasts or in professional settings. Now however, direct drive has become more affordable than ever.

Fanatec Direct Drive Bases

For a decade, Fanatec has been developing and refining its Direct Drive tech. The Podium Wheel Base DD1 and DD2 marked an important step for the company and the sim racing community in general. These bases were the first true mass-market products in this category – making it easier than ever for sim racers to experience its benefits.

Later, with the launch of the CSL DD, Fanatec’s second-generation architecture, Direct Drive became more accessible to a greater audience, with Fanatec’s portfolio now offering a wider range of torque levels and price points. The barrier to entry and upgrading had become even lower.

A perfect base for everyone

Following the launch of the new Podium DD – which is priced lower than the previous flagship model – pricing adjustments have been made across the whole lineup of Direct Drive Bases. Depending on model and region, prices are reduced by up to 30%.

CSL DD / Gran Turismo® DD Pro

The CSL DD and Gran Turismo® DD Pro are prefect for beginners or racers who want to upgrade from a belt or gear-driven base.

The CSL DD can be purchased as a 5 Nm or 8 Nm variant, offering good performance range for many different racing disciplines. If you opt for the 5 Nm CSL DD, you can later also easily upgrade to 8 Nm with the Boost Kit 180.

The Gran Turismo® DD Pro Wheel Base already comes wit the Boost Kit, delivering 8 Nm of torque out-of-the-box. Additionally, the base is fully compatible with PS5® and PS4®. This means you can connect every Fanatec component like, steering wheels or pedals, and use them on PlayStation®.

ClubSport DD / ClubSport DD+

ClubSport DD and ClubSport DD+ offer more torque than CSL DD and Gran Turismo® DD Pro, as well as a more refined motor design for even more detailed and nuanced force feedback.

ClubSport DD delivers 12 Nm of consistent torque. ClubSport DD+ can output up to 15 Nm and has added PlayStation® compatibility. These bases are also enhanced by Fanatec’s FullForce technology – adding high-fidelity vibration cues in addition to the standard force feedback signal.

Podium DD

The new Podium DD is Fanatec’s most sophisticated base to-date. It features the widest dynamic range ever achieved in a Fanatec base, delivering a true 25 Nm of holding torque. While many sim racers are perfectly fine and happy with about 15 Nm, there are several advantages in having that much power at your disposal, like a higher slew rate for even more pronounced and precise force feedback.
The Podium DD is the perfect fit for sim racers looking the “the one” that can handle every steering wheel, scenario on track, and racing discipline effortlessly.
