Fanatec's Podium DD Explained

Fanatec's Podium DD delivers the widest dynamic range ever achieved in a Fanatec Base, pairing a true 25 Nm of holding torque with FullForce technology. The result is not simply more power, but more information. Every steering input, surface change, and load variation arrives with greater clarity and consistency.

Dynamic range over raw strength

A common misunderstanding in sim racing is that higher torque automatically means heavier steering. But the real advantage of a high-torque direct drive system is dynamic range. Many lower torque bases require high in-game strength settings to feel convincing, which compresses the signal and causes clipping. Fine detail is lost as peaks are flattened.

With Podium DD, the motor has enough headroom to reproduce the full signal without strain. Lower in-game strength allows sharp spikes and subtle transitions to pass through unfiltered.

Engineering that sustains performance

Podium DD has been designed from the inside out to deliver consistent performance in real driving conditions. Reinforced electronics and custom heatsink maintain thermal stability, ensuring the full 25 Nm dynamic range remains available lap after lap.

The fully aluminum housing, motor shaft, and bearing seats are built to handle higher forces and stronger vibrations within the same footprint as ClubSport DD.

Mechanical honesty at the core

At the heart of Podium DD is an offset segmented rotor that naturally reduces unwanted magnetic cogging torque. Combined with Fanatec’s patented FluxBarrier technology, efficiency is improved and rotational smoothness is enhanced. The outcome is force feedback that feels clean, direct, and unfiltered. What the sim sends is what your hands receive.

FullForce: Driving the detail

By blending high-frequency vibration data with the core force signal, FullForce allows developers add sensations such as engine vibration, road texture, and the onset of traction loss. These details blend seamlessly with the core feedback, enriching the signal with useful and immersive information.

Built for realistic driving

With 25 Nm of holding torque, Podium DD can reproduce realistic steering forces across a wide range of vehicles, from modern open-wheel cars to classic Le Mans prototypes without power steering, and even karts. Strength is available when required, but control and detail remain the priority.

Designed and engineered in Germany, Podium DD replaces DD2 as the new flagship Fanatec Base. It is composed at the limit, crafted in metal, and focused on one goal above all else: delivering honest, uncompromised force feedback.
