DD2 first time set up not working

I just got my new DD2 and I'm replacing my ClubSport V2.5 wheel base.
I flashed to the new firmware, and when I turn it on, I see a flashing CAL which seems to make sense because it needs to be calibrated. But I don't know how to kick off that process. 
Also, the manual suggests that a game controller app will open on my PC that allows me to make all the settings adjustments, but that app does not launch, and I don't know how to fire it up manually. 

Guidance would be most appreciated.

    Normally exactly how to calibrate your Wheel is described in both the manual and also the Quick Guide. You should re-read both.

    1. press the tuning menu button on your steering wheel
    2. press the right button combo to set a new center point when the wheel is physically centered. This will be saved to the wheel base until you flash your base firmware again via the driver panel.
