Originally, SimBin introduced the concept of choosing between three distinct physics modes, Novice, Amateur, and Get Real, aiming to appeal to casual players using keyboards and gamepads as well as dedicated sim racers. Today, those presets remain, but they no longer represent different physics models. Every driver experiences the same underlying simulation, with Novice and Amateur simply enabling additional driving assists by default.
The simulator has undergone major technical changes behind the scenes. In 2021, Sector3 completely rebuilt the force feedback system, replacing years of legacy code with a fully physics-driven model. Artificial effects such as configurable steering friction and engine vibration were removed, allowing the steering wheel to communicate directly from the vehicle simulation instead of relying on canned effects. This marked a significant shift in philosophy, with more focus on the enthusiast audience.
RaceRoom has long been one of the best-supported simulators for Fanatec hardware.
Over the years, it has consistently adopted new Fanatec features, including early support for the ‘Auto’ function in the Tuning Menu, and strong support for vibration motors in compatible steering wheels and pedals since the early days.
