From 2021 until 2025, Fanatec partnered with SRO to integrate sim racing more deeply with real racing, as part of the global Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS. This collaboration included a groundbreaking initiative: an on-site sim racing esports competition at all the Endurance rounds of the championship, where each real-world team nominated a driver to represent them in esports, with the potential to win points for the real-world team championship.
Within each paddock, the Fanatec Arena housed up to 24 Fanatec simulators, with the racing presented in front of a live audience, complete with commentary and global live broadcasting. While Fanatec also supplied the wheel found in the BMW M4 GT3 and GT4 race cars used by many teams on track, it was deemed unfair to equip all the sims with the Podium Steering Wheel BMW M4 GT3.
To ensure neutrality, a modular wheel formed of the most premium components produced by Fanatec at the time was selected, and sold on the Fanatec website as the Podium Steering Wheel Fanatec GT World Challenge, consisting of:
While functionally impressive, the round rim did not reflect the typical shape of a modern GT3 wheel. To address this, Fanatec developed the ClubSport Wheel Rim GT3 Endurance, a GT3-style rim specifically designed to work with the Podium Button Module Endurance. This new rim became part of a rebranded, refined product: the Podium Steering Wheel GT3 Endurance.
The wheel maintains the same high-end configuration:
The 318 mm GT3 rim features overmolded rubber grips similar in feel to the Podium Steering Wheel BMW M4 GT3, shaped for comfort during long races. It also includes precision-cut, printable sticker sheets that allow users to make eye-catching custom face plates.
The Podium Steering Wheel GT3 Endurance fits squarely between:
An Xbox-compatible option is also available, called the ClubSport Steering Wheel GT3 Endurance for Xbox, which uses the ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox instead of the Podium Hub.
