The Podium Hub and ClubSport Button Cluster Pack

Last updated:

The Fanatec Ecosystem offers a wide variety of complete steering wheels with preconfigured and assembled buttons like the CSL Elite Steering Wheel Porsche Vision GT or the high end Podium Steering Wheel Bentley GT3.

But sim racers can also take a more modular and customizable approach to create a steering wheel that fits their needs and suits them perfectly – be it for GT, Rally, Drift or any other racing discipline.

Using standalone wheel rims on Fanatec bases

One of the easiest ways to build your own steering wheel is by using the Podium Hub. It is compatible with all Fanatec wheel rims. You can also attach any third-party rim that has either a 6x70 mm or 3x50 mm bolt pattern. Learn more about the Podium Hub, and other Fanatec Hubs.

The Podium Hub enables force feedback on your wheel base. By default, it does not come with any buttons or other inputs attached though. If you plan to have a clean or traditional steering wheel like for classic cars, this is usually not a problem. But there are situations where some inputs can come in handy or might even be required.

The ClubSport Button Cluster Pack

The ClubSport Button Cluster Pack is an optional accessory that enhances the functionality of your steering wheel setup. Each cluster features three buttons, giving you six additional inputs if you chose to add both to your Podium Hub. The button clusters can be aligned and adjusted along the front rails of the Podium Hub to suit your preferences and wheel rims of different shapes and sizes.

These inputs are especially useful if you’ll have to change the wheel base mode on your Podium Wheel Base DD1 or DD2. Since Podium wheel bases do not allow for mode change on the base itself, this must be done via a button combination on the steering wheel. You can also use the Button Clusters to activate high torque mode on these bases (this can also be achieved by turning the steering wheel 90° for three seconds).

If you play on PlayStation®, you will also need a button on your steering wheel to sign in and have your Fanatec wheel base be recognized by the console.

Additional and alternative inputs

To add even more inputs to your wheel, look into the ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module, which adds two shifter paddles. The Podium Advanced Paddle Module adds two sets of paddles as well as two analogue input axis for functions like clutch, handbrake, throttle, or brake.

If you need more inputs than the ClubSport Button Cluster Pack offers, you might want to consider the Podium Button Module Endurance or Podium Button Module Rally instead. Both feature numerous buttons alongside encoders, d-sticks, and more (visit Fanatec.com for more info).
