Platform compatibility explained

Whether you race on PC or console, the FANATEC® ecosystem allows you to configure a setup that suits your platform and your driving style.

Windows PC

All Fanatec products are compatible with Windows PC. Connecting all components through a Fanatec Direct Drive Base requires just one USB connection to the PC and provides the most streamlined software experience. Fanatec products with a direct USB connection can be used independently or alongside hardware from other brands. Always refer to the individual product pages for compatibility details.

Unparalleled console compatibility

Fanatec hardware includes licensed products for XBOX and PlayStation systems. When combined together, they can support both console families as well as PC.

XBOX: The Wheel Unlocks the Platform.

XBOX compatibility is determined by the security chip inside every XBOX-licensed Steering Wheel (or XBOX-licensed Hub). When you attach an XBOX-licensed Steering Wheel (or Hub) to any compatible Fanatec Base, the entire connected setup becomes compatible with XBOX One and XBOX Series X|S. Always refer to the individual product pages for compatibility details.

PlayStation: The Base Unlocks the Platform.

PlayStation compatibility is determined by the security chip inside every PlayStation-licensed Direct Drive Base. Any Fanatec product connected to a PlayStation-licensed Direct Drive Base becomes compatible with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Always refer to the individual product pages for compatibility details.

Multi-platform possibilities

If you combine an XBOX-licensed Steering Wheel (or XBOX-licensed Hub) with a PlayStation-licensed Base, all connected Fanatec hardware becomes compatible with both XBOX and PlayStation systems. Such combinations naturally work on PC as well.

Additional Notes:

It is possible to use third-party USB steering wheels with Fanatec Bases on Windows PC. A Fanatec Hub is required, and the third-party wheel must be connected separately to the PC using a USB cable (or via Bluetooth, where supported).

Pay attention to the platform labels. There are five variations:

PC: This product is compatible with PC.
XBOX: This product is compatible with XBOX One and XBOX Series X|S.
XBOX Ready: This product becomes compatible with XBOX One and XBOX Series X|S systems when combined with an XBOX-licensed Steering Wheel.
PS: This product is compatible with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
PS Ready: This product becomes compatible with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 when combined with a PlayStation-licensed Base.
